Securing Bathroom Safety for Senior Citizens
The bathroom can easily become the most dangerous spot in the house for senior citizens. For instance, because the floors often get wet, it can lead to the frequent occurrence of slip and fall accidents, which can result to major medical consequences.
In order to avoid problems relating to bathroom accidents, here are a few bathroom improvements that you can pull:
- Build handicap-accessible doorways — at least 32″ wide.
- Install sufficient lighting.
- Provide wide — at least 42″ — and clear walking space.
- Invest in non-slip mats for the shower.
- Install hand rails and grab bars.
