Home Modifications for Senior Citizens
Senior citizens may require specific features in their homes that will enable them to perform their daily activities and chores. As they grow older, their bodies become less capable of doing tasks that they used to be able to perform so easily, which is why certain home modifications that specifically address their needs have to be applied.
- Seniors should ideally stay in one-storey houses, or ones with minimal elevated steps.
- Spacious hallways, doorframes, etc. can ensure that he/she has enough space to move comfortably around the house.
- Hardwood, non-slip flooring and other safety installments are necessary to prevent accidents.
