Safety Measures to Avoid Falling Victim to Telemarketing and Door-to-door Schemes

The FBI says senior citizens often fall victim to telemarketing and door-to-door schemes due to a variety of reasons, which include the notion that they are more trusting and polite, they are less likely to report crimes, and even when they do, they encounter difficulties in remembering important details of the event.

In order to avoid being victimized by advantage-takers, seniors have to observe the following safety measures:

Make a strict rule about hanging up on telemarketers.
Don’t give out personal and financial information to strangers over the phone or on your doorstep.
Call the police immediately once things become suspicious.
