Food Safety Tips for Seniors
We all know that elderly people are usually the ones susceptible to foodborne illness. Because of their weakened immune system, we need to make sure that the food they eat is not only healthy but also safe. Apart from evaluating old family recipes, here are some tips that can help you ensure food safety for your senior loved ones.
- Avoid partially cooking or browning food and make sure to cook them with a temperature of at least 325 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Avoid preparing recipes with eggs that are only partially cooked.
- Marinate meat or poultry in a covered container and not on the counter.
