Home Care Solutions for Senior Citizens

As we age, we become less physically fit and active, and there are things and activities that we may not be able to handle such as running up and down the stairs. If you are caring for a senior loved one at home, matters concerning his/her safety becomes an issue because our homes may not be fit for senior care. Fortunately, there are several safety measures that can make a difference for your parent’s health and safety at home.

Here are some adjustments that you can apply to keep your loved one safe and comfortable:

– Make sure to keep all the areas at home well-lit particularly along the hallways and at the stairs.

– Water heater should also be no hotter than 115 degrees to avoid burns.

– All bathrooms should have slip-resistant decals.

– Use non-skid mats in bathtubs and showers.

– If a senior loved one has difficulty maintaining his or her balance, install bars in the bathtub and shower.
