With nearly one-third of elderly patients at risk to falls every year, researchers have been very interested in knowing which prevention programs are highly-effective in lowering fall risk.

Researchers  reviewed the data on 79,193 patients in 159 trials that viewed at different strategies from exercise and vitamin D supplementation to home-safety interventions and they have found that multifactorial interventions, like individual risk assessment that looks at the patient’s risk of falling and implements strategies to reduce specific risks, reduced the rate of falls, but not the risk of falling.
